Events

The following are events throughout the community that may be helpful to caregivers, those with dementia, and those interested in making their communities more dementia-friendly. There are both virtual and live events, some hosted by The Ohio Council for Cognitive Health, and many hosted by our friends and partners in the community. We hope you find them helpful!

  • Memoir with Laughter On Call

    Virtual

    In this workshop hosted by Hilarity for Charity, participants are given specific prompts to recount significant moments in their lives as caregivers and beyond. They are taught basic storytelling structure to continue their writing beyond the class. There is an opportunity to share their writing in class, creating a foundation for community.

  • Positive Aging Workshop

    Holmes County General Health District 2600 Glen Drive, Millersburg, Ohio

    Session One, 1-2 p.m.: “Sensitivity to Aging”
    Sensitivity to Aging provides participants unique perspectives on difficulties we may face as we age. It also provides perspectives to the caregiver on difficulties their loved ones may face, including vision impairment and function mobility loss.

    Session Two, 2-3 p.m.: “Supporting the Supporter: Strategies and Resources for Dementia Caregiving”
    After a brief overview of the basics of dementia, this session will highlight common changes experienced by individuals living with dementia and responsive strategies and resources to guide and support caregivers.
