The following are events throughout the community that may be helpful to caregivers, those with dementia, and those interested in making their communities more dementia-friendly. There are both virtual and live events, some hosted by The Ohio Council for Cognitive Health, and many hosted by our friends and partners in the community.   • GWEP GROW Brain Health ECHO Series | Dementia and Wellness: Supporting Brain Health Through Activity and Nutrition

    Virtual

    Supporting brain health across the lifespan involves many factors - physical activity, nutrition, social engagement and novel cognitive activities, just to name a few. This presentation will focus on physical activity and nutrition when dementia and caregiving enter life's picture. We will explore practical, adaptive strategies to address common activity and nutritional challenges in ways that benefit both individuals living with dementia and their care partners. Participants will also learn about helpful community and national resources that promote brain health, movement, and nutrition.

    Webinar Series for Professional Caregivers

    Join Hilarity for Charity (HFC) and the Dementia Engagement, Education, and Research (DEER) Program for this exclusive opportunity to be trained in relationship-centered dementia care. This FREE training is delivered virtually via Zoom over the course of four 3.5-hour sessions (you must complete all four sessions to receive your certificate).

    This training series is designed to empower care partners with the skills and insights needed for high-quality, relationship-centered, culturally responsive dementia care.

    Hosted by Hilarity for Charity: Join Kathy Rogers to learn how to navigate the early stages of dementia including practical communication strategies, daily care tips, and ways to manage changes in memory and behavior. Attendees will also receive helpful resources designed to support caregivers and families throughout the journey.

  • The Magic of Music and the Brain

    Hilarity for Charity (HFC) presents this FREE training to identify how music engages multiple areas of the brain related to memory, emotion, movement, and connection. Attendees will learn why music often remains accessible for people living with dementia, even as other abilities change. (1 hour credit for CE).

  • GWEP Brain Health ECHO | When Dementia Doesn’t Travel Alone: The Impact of Comorbidities in Dementia Care

    Dementia rarely travels alone, meaning approximately 70% of individuals living with dementia experience one or more comorbid/coexisting conditions. In this presentation, we’ll explore the four most common comorbidities seen in individuals living with dementia and the potential impact on quality of life, health outcomes, and caregiver burden. Strategies and resources to improve management of comorbidities in dementia care, while decreasing caregiver burden will be discussed.
