The following are events throughout the community that may be helpful to caregivers, those with dementia, and those interested in making their communities more dementia-friendly. There are both virtual and live events, some hosted by The Ohio Council for Cognitive Health, and many hosted by our friends and partners in the community.   • Meeting Communities Where They Are: Innovative Approaches to Dementia Supports and Services

    Virtual

    FREE WEBINAR: Addressing the unique support and service needs of communities is central to effective home- and community-based dementia care. While many dementia-specific interventions are grounded in research and best practices, they often require thoughtful adaptation to effectively reach underserved populations. Supports and services for people living with dementia, their caregivers, and their communities are most impactful when tailored to reflect cultural values, language, and lived experiences.

    Learn from experts about topics ranging from Healthy Aging through End of Life for older adults including Geriatric Syndromes, Social Determinants of Health, Alzheimer's Disease and Related Dementias, Medicare and more.

    Up to 14 CE hours are available, 1.00 CE per session

  • Project ECHO: Diabetes and Heart Disease in Adults with IDD and Dementia: What It Looks Like and How to Help

    This Project ECHO series is a free, case-based education program for health care and human service providers seeking to strengthen their skills in supporting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities affected by dementia. Each session features a brief expert presentation, a participant-submitted case and a facilitated group discussion focused on shared learning and practical application.

  • GWEP GROW Brain Health ECHO Series | Restoring the Caregiver: The Connection Between Sleep, Health, and Dementia Risk

    Virtual

    This presentation will focus on important relationships between sleep quality, dementia risk and caregiver health outcomes. Potential causes of insomnia and sleep disruption, including behavioral, environmental, and caregiving-related factors will be discussed. Attendees will learn practical and applicable strategies to improve sleep hygiene, manage stimulus control and other components of cognitive behavioral sleep intervention.
