Events

The following are events throughout the community that may be helpful to caregivers, those with dementia, and those interested in making their communities more dementia-friendly. There are both virtual and live events, some hosted by The Ohio Council for Cognitive Health, and many hosted by our friends and partners in the community. We hope you find them helpful!

  • Positive Aging Workshop

    Holmes County General Health District 2600 Glen Drive, Millersburg, Ohio

    Session One, 1-2 p.m.: “Sensitivity to Aging”
    Sensitivity to Aging provides participants unique perspectives on difficulties we may face as we age. It also provides perspectives to the caregiver on difficulties their loved ones may face, including vision impairment and function mobility loss.

    Session Two, 2-3 p.m.: “Supporting the Supporter: Strategies and Resources for Dementia Caregiving”
    After a brief overview of the basics of dementia, this session will highlight common changes experienced by individuals living with dementia and responsive strategies and resources to guide and support caregivers.

  • Understanding Dementia Beyond Memory Loss: Assessment, Function, and Daily Impact

    A Webinar for Professional Caregivers | Hosted by Hilarity for Charity

    Join Dr. Renarda Jones for a conversation that looks at dementia beyond memory loss. She will walk through cognitive and functional changes, how to assess them effectively, and what they mean for everyday life. The session focuses on practical strategies that support person-centered care across clinical and caregiving settings. *1 hour CE credit.

  • GWEP GROW Brain Health ECHO Series | Dementia and Wellness: Supporting Brain Health Through Activity and Nutrition

    Supporting brain health across the lifespan involves many factors - physical activity, nutrition, social engagement and novel cognitive activities, just to name a few. This presentation will focus on physical activity and nutrition when dementia and caregiving enter life's picture. We will explore practical, adaptive strategies to address common activity and nutritional challenges in ways that benefit both individuals living with dementia and their care partners. Participants will also learn about helpful community and national resources that promote brain health, movement, and nutrition.

    Webinar Series for Professional Caregivers

    Join Hilarity for Charity (HFC) and the Dementia Engagement, Education, and Research (DEER) Program for this exclusive opportunity to be trained in relationship-centered dementia care. This FREE training is delivered virtually via Zoom over the course of four 3.5-hour sessions (you must complete all four sessions to receive your certificate).

    This training series is designed to empower care partners with the skills and insights needed for high-quality, relationship-centered, culturally responsive dementia care.
